CST for Babies and Children

Craniosacral therapy has a good reputation for its effectiveness in helping women in pregnancy and for many of the ailments of young babies and children.

The birth process is a hugely significant event for both mother and baby, and afterwards both need time to rest and recover.

At birth, the bones of a baby’s skull and pelvis are not yet fully formed/solidified and can become compressed or misaligned. The baby can also experience shock due to various factors that can happen during a birth process. Whilst the baby’s body is designed to rebalance itself and can naturally resolve any imprints, more complicated or traumatic births can leave some residual problems.

Symptoms such as excessive crying, colic, feeding, sleep or behavioural problems can be a sign that your baby has not fully recovered from the birth process – and that some gentle help or intervention may assist.

Even the easiest of births can leave unresolved disturbances, (which sometimes show up later in life as symptoms such as childhood headaches, dyslexia, anxiety or hyperactivity). Therefore, having your baby checked by a Craniosacral Therapist is highly recommended and a good investment for your baby’s future health. Babies are very close to their source of being which often allows a therapeutic process to more easily occur. Therefore, a few sessions can bring great improvement. During the treatment session, importance is placed on developing a respectful and trusting contact.

Unresolved birth trauma in older children can affect their health, learning and behaviour. In addition, the inevitable bumps and falls can leave an imprint on a child’s healthy functioning, causing symptoms such as headaches, back pain, anxiety, hyperactivity or behavioural issues.

The very gentle touch of a Craniosacral practitioner can help to free up a child’s physical and emotional body so they function more freely and healthily.

Testimonials:

"Highly recommended. I took my baby to see Martha when he was only a few weeks old. He was generally a windy baby and quite unsettled. Martha's treatment worked wonders on him! She was very gentle, only put her hands on his head on body softly. After 2-3 visits he was much more relaxed." Nadine
